Review: LifeSpan TR 1200i

LifeSpan-TR-1200i Review

Choosing the right treadmill for your fitness journey has a huge impact on how successful that journey is. The LifeSpan TR 1200i is one of the best professional-level treadmills currently available on the market. If you’re serious about increasing your fitness level but you can’t stand the idea of paying expensive gym fees for the rest of your life, this might well be the machine for you.

The Lifespan TR 1200i is jam packed with features that allow you to work out at whatever intensity level you want while staying relatively comfortable—even throughout your longest workouts. It’s also relatively small and light for a machine with its level of durability and number of features, making it easy to store in any room in the house and even to move from one room to another.

Product Features

The Lifespan TR 1200i offers a grand total of 17 different training programs, including two customizable programs and two MyZone heart rate control programs. Serious athletes will enjoy the MyZone Interval Training program which automatically switches the machine between high and low intensities at regular intervals. Interval training is heralded by many experts as one of the best ways to lose weight within a relatively short period of time.

This particular elliptical machine also comes with a unique feature called Lifespan Intelli-Step which tracks your steps throughout your entire workout. The Lifespan TR 1200i also tracks a number of other fitness metrics including calories burned, overall distance, speed and time. It even allows you to sync this data to a USB stick, which you can connect to your online account(information on how to create this account comes with the machine).

Ideal for athletes of all fitness levels, the Lifespan TR 1200i features a maximum speed of 11MPH—a little bit higher than many comparable models—and the standard incline capacity of 15 degrees. Users can easily switch between speeds, incline levels and even programs using the oversized buttons on the same console that features the LCD screen where your tracking data will appear.

Specifications:

  • Maximum Capacity: 300 pounds
  • Preset Programs: 17
  • Motor Horsepower: 2.5 HP
  • Maximum Speed: 11 MPH
  • Running Surface: 20 x 56 inches
  • Heart Rate Monitor: Yes
  • Dimensions: 70 x 33 x 55 inches
  • Weight: 204 pounds

Comfort Features

A two-ply belt provides comfort while running at various speeds and shock absorbers cushion the deck to protect your knees and ankles from the kind of impact injuries common to actual outdoor running. Additional buttons on the handlebars make it easier for you to switch between speeds and incline levels at any point during your workout. The handlebars are also padded and textured to prevent you from slipping off the machine even when your hands are sweaty.

The Lifespan TR 1200i also comes with a unique feature called Intelli-Guard,  which automatically pauses the motor if your feet don’t make contact with the belt for 20 seconds during a workout. This is an excellent safety feature, particularly for parents who might need to step off the treadmill at any moment.

Last but not least, the Lifespan TR 1200i comes with a plug for your headphones and even an iPod dock, giving you the option of listening to your favourite tunes while you work out.

Assembly

This model is extremely heavy with the boxed packaging, so you might want a second person to help you get it to the ideal spot in your apartment. Luckily the Lifespan TR 1200i is also extremely easy to assemble. Unlike most home exercise machines, the Lifespan TR 1200i arrives with all its screws and bolts already in place.

A detailed and well-illustrated manual, along with all the tools and accessories necessary to complete the job, come with the treadmill inside the boxed packaging. You should expect to spend around half an hour putting this machine together, noticeably less than many other home exercise machines.

Drawbacks

Unlike some treadmills in a similar price range, the Lifespan TR 1200i doesn’t come with a built in fan, making longer workouts somewhat more difficult. It also has a rather loud motor, so it might not be ideal if you like to watch movies while you work out, but the headphone jack and iPod dock still make it easy to listen to music.

Overall

The Lifespan TR 1200i is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a professional-range treadmill that will guide you from one end of your fitness journey to the other. Its many features make it excellent for people of all fitness levels and the easy-to-use console make it a great choice for newbie exercisers and semi-professional athletes alike. The Lifespan TR 1200i also folds up, making it easy to store when you’re not actively working out—even if you live in a relatively small space.
